The Blood Still Has The Power

“And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death.” Revelation 12:11

“In the same manner He also took the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood. This do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.’ “ 1 Corinthians 11:25

We can never say or learn too much about the blood of Jesus. We can never fully exhaust its meaning and significance to every born again believer. It is the very central most foundation on which our salvation rests. Without the shedding of blood there can be no remission of sin.

“And according to the law almost all things are purified with blood, and without shedding of blood there is no remission.” Hebrews 9:22

Covenants are sworn in blood to seal the covenant participants to a life unto death allegiance to one another.

For thousands of years under the Old Covenant the blood of bulls and goats were continually sacrificed to remit the sins of the people of Israel. But that blood could only cover their sins and only for a time so it was necessary year after year to make those sacrifices again and again. But Jesus suffered for all of us the ultimate sacrifice of His own blood, poured out once and for all in the Holiest of Holy places in Heaven to purify what had been stained with sin by the first rebellion in the sin of Lucifer, the anointed cherub who sought to exalt his throne above God. (See Isaiah 14)

Jesus’ sinless blood was more powerful than the rebellion and sin of Lucifer, who by virtue of his fall lost his title and his name and became Satan. The blood of Jesus first declared on the earth at the Last Supper created the pathway through which all humankind could be forgiven of their sin and by that same blood be made new creations in Christ Jesus through His death, burial and resurrection.

“For this is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.” Matthew 26:28

“In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace.” Ephesians 1:7

You and I became for all time participants in and partakers of that redeeming blood when we confessed Jesus as Lord of our lives and believed in our hearts that God has raised Him from the dead. Through that same blood we are partakers of the New Covenant of grace because of faith in Jesus Christ alone for our salvation, He having fulfilled all the Law in the finished work of salvation that God completed in Him, our Lord, the only begotten Son of God.

Now, it is by that same blood that we have become overcomers, s, in this life and more than conqueror over sin, death, hell and the grave.

It is only by His blood that we are cleansed from all sin.

“But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.” 1 John 1:7

Yes, we must confess our sins and be always ready to acknowledge our inadequacy to live apart from God’s redemption, love and grace. When we confess our sins He is faithful to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. [1 John 1:9]

We are cleansed by His blood. Our confession makes us available to be cleansed but it is the blood that does the work. It is only by His blood that we are made new creations sealed by the Holy Spirit to be transformed into the nature and character of Christ Jesus our Lord.

“Now may the God of peace who brought up our Lord Jesus from the dead, that great Shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, make you complete in every good work to do His will, working in you what is well pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen” Hebrews 13:20-21

Only By The Blood Of The Lamb

Chorus

Only by the blood of the Lamb

Only by the blood of the Lamb

We’ve overcome

In His grace we now stand

Only by the blood of the Lamb
