It Doesn’t Have To Be This Way

Today’s devotional was inspired by a sense that too many believers and unbelievers are confused or misinformed about the nature of the Love of God. Many believe it is a license for anything we can think to do or say or believe, especially if it feels good to us to say, to do or to believe it. It’s emotionally driven, as though God is some kind of sugar daddy who just tolerates and allows us to engage in anything we like and as long as we call it love or claim that we were motivated by love to engage in it.

Some think as long as they tack some inspiration of love to it, it’s ok.

The result is they are giving up more and more of what is truly good and righteous for the ephemeral, transient, and temporary that will fade and leave a void that the devil will be, and even now is, eager to fill.

I’m also concerned about the almost daily removal of all references to God, the Ten Commandments, the Holy Bible and Judeo-Christian teaching or references to them in all matters of government and laws in this country. While at the same time we are making greater and greater accommodations for and teaching the ways of Islam and the Koran just about everywhere in the public arena.

It’s as though the church and its place in the American way of life is being isolated and placed in a pot of cold water and the fire is turned on beneath the pot but we are unaware we are being brought to a boil to kill us and by the time we become aware of it, it will be too late.

Some one protests the presence of the Ten Commandments on the steps of the capital in Oklahoma and a federal judge orders it removed. So to avoid a protest the governor who refused to remove it at first has to order it removed in the middle of the night. But the pattern has been ongoing for decades now.

Some one protests Bible reading and prayer in our schools and a judge declares it unlawful and it’s removed. Some one protests the mention of the name of Jesus where prayer is allowed in our government and His name is no longer heard. Some few protest the sanctity of marriage between a man and a woman and the Supreme Court decides to redefine it as a union between a man and a man or a woman and a woman and unconstitutionally legislates a new definition to accommodate them.

Some one demands same-sex acts be taught in our public schools as normative and our children are subjected to such brainwashing. Some one protests that Christmas is offensive to non-Christians and atheists so all references to it in our public, taxpayer-funded schools must be removed. So, school boards cancel all Christmas programs and declare all songs that reference Jesus’s birth, the Bible or anything “Christian” is offensive and demands that they be removed from the “Holiday” activities.

No voice of the people is sought, no time for serious consideration of the long-range consequences of such actions, no time for open debate or seeking consensus from the people. Just one man with assumed judicial authority and “power” deciding what he wants and doing it. Are we still a democracy or have we already become a fascist state where only a few rule over the masses?

Who is controlling the agenda in America today? Homosexuals? Abortionists? Anarchists? Police killers? Atheists? Godless Psychologists? Socialist/Communist/Islamist-leaning politicians? Legislating Judges? Spineless, immoral Congressmen and Congresswomen? Those who would sell their souls for a bribe?

Movies? Pop music?, Witless, Opportunistic, Self-Aggrandizing Fools? Braggarts? Bigots? Anti-Christians? Arrogant, boasters who claim themselves to be wise but are fools? A “News” (Propaganda) and “Entertainment”(Brainwashing) media that is committed to driving a Godless agenda of wantonness and Self—indulgence to keep the masses as uninformed as possible so they can be controlled by their selective messaging? Are these the new leaders of America?

I pray to God it’s not too late to stem the tide and restore proper order and Godly wisdom to our nation. I’m deeply concerned.

But, more than being concerned, I am hopeful and resolute in the name of Jesus to declare His Word and push back against this present darkness with prayer, faith and love. Prayer changes everything, Love never fails, and Faith in God will not be disappointed.

He is our God and we are His people. He has made us kings and priests in His Kingdom.

“And have made us kings and priests to our God; and we shall reign on the earth.” Revelation 5:10

He will never leave us or forsake us even to the ends of the earth,

“Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.” Hebrews 13:5

and whatever we ask of the Father in Jesus’s name He will give it to us.

“You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you.” John 15:16

“And in that day you will ask Me nothing. Most assuredly, I say to you, whatever you ask the Father in My name He will give you.” John 16:23

The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.

“Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.” James 5:16

The present condition of the nation (and indeed the world) does not have to remain on the course it’s following. Our prayers motivated by love with faith in God can change the nation to know and believe God. There is nothing that is impossible for us who believe in the Word and the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. If more people really knew our God, really had a relationship with Jesus Christ from knowledge and understanding of who He really is and what He has done for all mankind they would passionately embrace faith in Him.

But most have not known Him. They have not been taught in childhood or been exposed to the truth as youth or adults so they wander about in ignorance and humanistic attempts to understand the world and their place in it. They take no thought for eternity because they have been anesthetized to believe that it has nothing to do with them. Yet the Bible warns us to be watchful for the return of our Lord Jesus, to live for the hope of Heaven and eternity in peace and joy with God our Father, our Lord Jesus Christ and our blessed Holy Spirit.

Today and tomorrow are fleeting but eternity is forever.
