Life and That More Abundantly —Part 1–Introduction –
"Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is.” 1 John 3:2
There are many instances in the Scriptures where God promises blessings but in many of them the idea of the blessing is that it will be overwhelming, sudden, more than sufficient, even extravagant by any standard.
It begins with Abram when God says to him, I will bless you and you will be a blessing, I will make you a great nation and your descendants will be as immeasurable as the stars in the heavens and as grains of sand along the sea shore. [Deuteronomy 12-15]
Then in Deuteronomy 28 God promises the Israelites that if they harken diligently unto the voice of the Lord their God, that He would cause overwhelming blessings to come upon them and overtake them. In other words, they won’t be able to get away from the flow and compounding of blessings coming to them.
Now, Jesus says in John 10:10 in contrast to the thief who only comes to steal, to kill and destroy, He, Jesus, has come that we might have life and that more abundantly.
And in His commandment to the disciples, and through them to all of us, in Luke 6:38 He says, give and it shall be given unto you good measure pressed down shaken together and running over shall men give in to your bosom.
And unquestioningly the most extravagant promise of all is that we would share in His Glory the way He and the Father share in Their Glory, that we may be one with Him and the Father.
Blessing upon blessing chasing us down
Life more abundantly
Giving to us overflowing to extravagant dimensions
An equal share in the glory of God
This is our destiny as believers. This is how we are to see ourselves. This is what defines us as the people, the sons, the children of God on the earth today. We are not the lost who were poor, wretched, naked and blind anymore.
“Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is.” 1 John 3:2
Meditate on this truth today. See yourself as God sees you. You are a precious son, a precious daughter, you are loved in the beloved, you are an heir of God and a joint heir with Jesus Christ of all creation. You and I are the possessors of all things through Jesus Christ our Lord.
