In Perfect Peace — Part 1
“You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You.” Isaiah 26:3
Most of us would be grateful for just above average peace in the midst of the social, political, economic and international turmoil of this present time. I suppose for those who can find some escape from the rancor and chaos of world events by immersing themselves in the higher arts of music, drama, dance, literature, wholesome recreation and just about anything that tends to a good belly laugh often, there is some level of peace and wellbeing. Thank God for all of these things.
But there is a peace the Scriptures speak to that goes far beyond the momentary escapes we may journey into for a while only to find ourselves catapulted back into the “noise” soon after. There is a peace that is perfect and that passes all understanding.
This peace is sustainable and inexhaustible. It a peace that just makes no sense to the natural mind. Nevertheless, it is real and it is ours for the taking. God alone offers this peace freely to anyone who will receive it.
It comes from a simple act of choosing to turn our minds away from what agitates, disturbs, disrupts and shakes us and turning our minds instead to contemplate God, His Word, His Majesty, His Power, His Wisdom, His Knowledge, His Understanding, His Dominion, His Glory, His Beauty, His Splendor, His Greatness, His Heart, His Creation, His Kindness, His Mercy, His Goodness, His Grace, His Endless Reign, His Truth, His Justice, His Righteousness, His Radiance, the Depth, the Breadth, the Length, the Width of His Love…
“Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and His ways past finding out! Romans 11:33
In this pursuit we will find perfect peace.
