A Meditation On Psalm 112 – Part 11
“His righteousness endures forever; his horn will be exalted with honor.” Psalm 112:9
We have an enduring righteousness.
Praise God. Ours is not a righteousness of works that can be easily lost or a righteousness of merit that is impossible to attain, or a righteousness of exclusivity only available to the select few in the “in-crowd.”
No, thank God, our righteousness is available to all and upon all, whosoever will confess that Jesus is Lord and believe in their hearts that God has raised Him from the dead. It is a righteousness of faith.
“With the heart man believes unto righteousness…” Romans 10:10
“But now the righteousness of God apart from the law is revealed, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets, even the righteousness of God, through faith in Jesus Christ, to all and on all who believe.” Romans 3:21-22
Our righteousness was conferred on us by the grace and mercy of God through the all-atoning work of Jesus Christ. It was He alone who could declare it and He alone who could withhold it and He alone who has chosen to extend it to us forever. We have an enduring righteousness because God says so.
Why is it so important to understand and to be confident that we are righteous? Because it is the foundation on which every covenant blessing of God is based and each is filled with promise.
Fear not little flock, God has declared you righteous and with that righteousness He is pouring out on us grace upon grace, favor upon favor, blessing upon blessing.
Consider these…and there are many more.
“Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous. For the LORD knows the way of the righteous, but the way of the ungodly shall perish.” Psalm 1:5-6
“For You, O LORD, will bless the righteous; with favor You will surround him as with a shield” Psalm. 5:12
“The eyes of the LORD are on the righteous, and His ears are open to their cry.” Psalm 34:15
“The righteous cry out, and the LORD hears, and delivers them out of all their troubles.” Psalm 34:17
“Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the LORD delivers him out of them all.” Psalm 34:19
“The LORD will not allow the righteous soul to famish,” Proverbs 10:3
“Blessings are on the head of the righteous,” Proverbs 10:6
“The labor of the righteous leads to life,” Proverbs 10:16
“The lips of the righteous feed many,” Proverbs 10:21
“…And the desire of the righteous will be granted.” Proverbs 10:24
“In the house of the righteous there is much treasure,” Proverbs 15:6
“The LORD is far from the wicked, but He hears the prayer of the righteous.” Proverbs 15:29
“The righteous considers the cause of the poor,” Proverbs 29:7
“For the eyes of the LORD are on the righteous, and His ears are open to their prayers; but the face of the LORD is against those who do evil.” 1 Peter 3:12
The exalted horn is a metaphor for strength, for victory, for power and great authority. It is a symbol of ruler-ship and respected societal standing.
The righteous not only endure, they flourish in power in authority and in strength.
This is you and I, in Christ Jesus. This is the body of Christ. This is the way of the righteous.
“For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.” 2 Corinthians 5:21
Thank You Father God, thank You Lord Jesus Christ, thank You Holy Spirit for creating us, new creations in Christ Jesus.
“For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.” Ephesians. 2:10
Expect the blessing, the favor, the deliverance, the abundant provision, the treasure, the life of God to be poured out on you today. And live with a liberal hand of blessing on the poor, and expect your prayers to God to be heard and answered and the desires of your heart to be granted because God is faithful and He has declared us His righteousness.
“ ‘No weapon formed against you shall prosper, and every tongue which rises against you in judgment you shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is from Me,’ says the LORD.” Isaiah 54:17
