A Meditation On Psalm 112 – Part 13

“The wicked will see it and be grieved; he will gnash his teeth and melt away; the desire of the wicked shall perish.” Psalm 112:10

Remember what Jesus said concerning the righteous and the wicked, the wheat and the tares. The tares were sown by evil men in the dark of night in the midst of the wheat and they both began to grow. The servants wanted to cut out the tares but the owner of the field said no. Wait until the time of the harvest then you shall harvest the wheat and the tares together and separate the wheat from the tares. Bundle the tares and throw it on the fires to burn up and rid the ground of them. The wheat will then be gathered and brought into the barns.

The tares are the wicked ones in the world (spiritual demonic forces) and those who have given themselves to be submitted under their influence. They are enumerated in 2 Corinthians 6.

“Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God.” 1 Corinthians 6:9-11

Let God be true and every man be a liar. The Righteous do not seek their own righteousness, but they seek and joyfully submit to the will, the way and the wisdom of God. A wicked and perverse culture cannot distinguish between compassion and consent, between lust (emotional base passions of the flesh) and truth, between the way that seems right to men but leads to death and the way of God that leads to life eternal.

You cannot love God and mammon. Mammon is a metaphor for the ways of a culture that approves and embraces one or more of all the things in the passage above. These are the ways of the wicked ones who will not inherit the kingdom of God. They (If they do not repent and turn from their wickedness) will inherit the corruption they have lived for and lived in and it will be their death.

But we are not called to be the judges of the world, rather we are called to go into the world and make disciples of all. Those who believe our report will be saved. Those who do not will perish. We are not called to embrace their ways and be indistinguishable from them in order not to offend them.

“For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. 1 Corinthians 1:18

“For we are to God the fragrance of Christ among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing. To the one we are the aroma of death leading to death, and to the other the aroma of life leading to life. And who is sufficient for these things? For we are not, as so many, peddling the word of God; but as of sincerity, but as from God, we speak in the sight of God in Christ. 2 Corinthians 2:15 – 17

“But even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing,” 2 Corinthians 4:3

But there is hope for every man, woman, and child as long they are alive. God is ready to redeem anyone at anytime day or night. The wicked need not perish if they would only hear and heed the call of God. Come, be washed in the blood of the Lamb and be made clean by the washing of the water of the Word of God.

“But we have renounced the hidden things of shame, not walking in craftiness nor handling the word of God deceitfully, but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man’s conscience in the sight of God.” 2 Corinthians. 4:2

Our calling is to walk in love and deal with everyone compassionately, lovingly and faithfully with a generous hand extended to the poor. We are called to acknowledge our righteousness in Christ by identifying with what His Word says concerning us, and our relationship to Him. Jesus is the measure of all truth for us and in Him we seek the wisdom of God in all things. We have peace with God. With have a bright and promising future and a hope that will not be disappointed.

Beloved, now are we the sons and daughters of God. Like dear little children we desire to imitate the Father in all things.

Praise the LORD!

Blessed is the man who fears the LORD,

Who delights greatly in His commandments.

His descendants will be mighty on earth;

The generation of the upright will be blessed.

Wealth and riches will be in his house,

And his righteousness endures forever.

Unto the upright there arises light in the darkness;

He is gracious, and full of compassion, and righteous.

A good man deals graciously and lends;

He will guide his affairs with discretion.

Surely he will never be shaken;

The righteous will be in everlasting remembrance.

He will not be afraid of evil tidings;

His heart is steadfast, trusting in the LORD.

His heart is established;

He will not be afraid,

Until he sees his desire upon his enemies.

He has dispersed abroad,

He has given to the poor;

His righteousness endures forever;

His horn will be exalted with honor.

The wicked will see it and be grieved;

He will gnash his teeth and melt away;

The desire of the wicked shall perish. Psalm 112:1-10
