The Future Looks Bright!
“The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach…” Romans 10:8
Ok. I must admit Christmas has always been my favorite time of the year. First because it is the celebration of Christ’s birth. I love the music, the fun, the general attitude of goodwill from most people, the giving and exchange of gifts. I say, “giving and exchange” because, not all gifts are given to those who love to give or are even able to give in return. Some of the best gifts are to those who can’t give gifts in return, but what they give in gratitude to God and thanksgiving for His provision through us is priceless, indeed. I like the children and their enthusiasm and eager anticipation of the “big day.” I like the decorations all around town and in our neighborhoods.
I like to hear the Christmas story read every year. When I hear the words, “And it came to pass in those days…” I’m immediately transported to a time when I would hear them read by my mother and father at Christmas Day dinners. It wasn’t done every year but when they did, it added a special sense of being there in the manger with Jesus, Mary and Joseph, to my child’s imagination.
Then there was this Word.
”Behold! I bring you good tidings of great joy that shall be to all people, for unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior who is Christ the Lord.”
Now even more so than then, I hear that declaration and it instills in my mind and heart such a strong sense of joy-filled hope for the future.
Some time ago I believe the Lord by the Holy Spirit spoke a word of exhortation and comfort to my heart. I was thinking about the laundry list of troubling things going on in our world and I wasn’t feeling particularly optimistic that any end was immediately in sight. I was having the feeling that things were just getting worse every day and more out of hand. And those with the power and authority to change things were either doing all they could to make the problems worse or doing nothing and just letting them grow and spread virtually unchecked. And I said, “Lord, we need Your intervention. We need You to save us from this present darkness and evil festering in our streets, in our communities, our schools and in the places where Godly wisdom and righteousness should prevail. We are helpless against these things.” And immediately the Lord sent this Word to my heart.
”But the righteousness which is of faith speaketh on this wise, Say not in thine heart, Who shall ascend into heaven? (that is, to bring Christ down from above:) Or, Who shall descend into the deep? (that is, to bring up Christ again from the dead.) But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” Romans 10:6
If the word is nigh, then Jesus is nigh, He’s not far away such that He has to come from some remote place to have an impact on our present situations. No. He is with us, near to us. He is right here at hand. He is as near as the sound of our voices speaking the Word.
What we say of the Word of God in the midst of the world’s mess can dramatically change things. His Word spoken in faith brings Him into any situation for good.
His promises and every Word He has spoken are true. He has said the future is bright for us, filled with the promise of Life and that more abundantly.
So, take hold of it today and everyday. Let’s speak His Word and His promise into our situations and bring His presence to bear on our lives and we will be saved, joyously, gloriously, dynamically and presently for where the Spirit of the Lord is there is Liberty.
I sense blessings coming your way and my way now beyond anything we have dared to imagine and all that we can imagine, now in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord, because that is His love for us. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over.
Behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy! Unto you is born this day in the City of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. We don’t have to wait for December 24-25 to open these gifts. They are freely being given to us now if we only believe the Word and receive them.
Believe, rejoice, receive and be blessed and be a blessing that you may continually glorify the Father as you bear much fruit.
