The Day The Lord Has Made
“This is the day the LORD has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.” Psalm 118:24
Every day we are given to live and worship God is a day to rejoice and be glad. Sunday for the Church is a particularly significant day because it represents Resurrection Day. It is the day we believers, the Church, gather together to celebrate Jesus’ triumph over death, hell, and the grave. It is the day we were raised up together with Him and made to sit with Him in heavenly places.
“But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.” Eph. 2:4-7
Today is also a day for rest, a Sabbath, a time to refresh and renew. It is a day Holy to the Lord, in which we get to honor Him by our cessation for all that we do as work to provide for ourselves and we fellowship with Him having laid aside daily chores to just enjoy the fruit of our labors and the provision of His hands in fellowship with our family and friends and others in the body of Christ.
Take this day to rest in the Lord and allow His Spirit to refresh and renew you, body, soul, mind and spirit. Celebrate the victory of our Lord and be thankful as you enter His presence in worship.
