On The Third Day of Christmas

Keeping the joy alive is not difficult when a baby is only three days old. Parents and extended family are still soaring in the awesomeness of the miracle of new life, the gift of God given to them. This is particularly true of firstborns. First time Moms and Dads are eager to make everything for their little one as perfect as possible. There is a great expectation that this child will make a profound impact on the world. Our prayer for this child is that he or she will live a long successful and prosperous life.

On the third day after Jesus’s birth we have no record of any remarkable thing that took place in His life, suggesting that He was just a normal child discovering His world around Him, nursing from His mother’s breast, grasping the finger of His earthly father, needing His diaper changed, sleeping a lot and waking up in the middle of the night needing Mommy and Daddy’s care.

For our 12-day celebration on this third day of Christmas let’s consider how we can discover new ways to live out our Ambassadorship as Servants of the Most High God.

Sing unto the Lord a new song.

“Sing unto the Lord, all the earth; shew forth from day to day his salvation.” 1 Chronicles 16:23

“I will sing unto the Lord, because he hath dealt bountifully with me.” Psalm 13:6

“Sing unto the Lord, O ye saints of his, and give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness.” Psalm 30:4

“O come, let us sing unto the Lord: let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation.” Psalm 95:1

“O sing unto the Lord a new song: sing unto the Lord, all the earth.” Psalm 96:1

“Sing unto the Lord, bless his name; shew forth his salvation from day to day.” Psalm 96:2

With the birth of Jesus and the sudden rejoicing of the angels before the Shepherds singing, “Glory to God in the highest and on Earth peace, goodwill toward men,” everything in the world changed in an instant. All things became new for all time. Sure, there was still sin and poverty, sickness and death among people, but now a new and glorious light had come to shine forth forever. To bring hope, to bring peace, to bring salvation and health and life more abundantly to everyone who would hear, believe and receive the GOOD NEWS from the GOOD GOD, through His GOOD SON, our Lord JESUS CHRIST!!!!

Now nothing is impossible if we only believe. It’s a New Day! Sing a New Song to the God of Our Salvation and rejoice in the Lord always!!!!
