God Does Not Forget His Promises

“Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord, According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue: Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.” 2 Peter 1:2-4

While we are here on earth, all humankind, clothed in flesh, spend our days in hope and anticipation of times to come in Heaven. We wake, we work, we play, we sleep; we wake to rise again and repeat the cycle day after day. We do life for good or for evil, for sin or for righteousness. Then in God’s appointed time we will lay off flesh and put on eternity, clothed in the mercy and grace of God unto salvation in Jesus Christ, or clothed in sin and judgment unto death forever separated from God and His Son, Jesus Christ forever.

The choice is ours, but God has done all that needed to be done to satisfy the Law of sin and death, and save us from death, hell and the grave. Now eternal life is ours for the receiving, merely by believing in our hearts that God has raised Jesus from the dead and confessing with our mouths that Jesus Christ is Lord.

Having done this, we are no longer slaves to sin nor are we left without power alone in the world waiting for Heaven in the “some day to come.” God has given us enormous gifts of grace and love, filling our days with great expectations and promises of good.

Here are just a few things that He has showered on us.

We are filled with the Holy Spirit, clothed in the full armor of God, possessing and filling our hearts with His Word to guide, direct and have the full and final authority in our daily lives. Now we live for the cause of Christ in the world, to bring the Kingdom of God to bear on every situation in which we find ourselves.

Now we are not our own, we have been bought with a price, the blood of Jesus that paid for the remission of our sins to give us eternal life. We are now His ambassadors and ministers of reconciliation and peace. We are now born again of incorruptible seed by the will of God. We are new creations in Christ Jesus, where old things have passed away and all things are become new and all things for us are of God. We are His workmanship created in Christ after good works.

We are His people the sheep of His pasture. We are now the righteousness of God in Christ. We are now the sons and daughters of God, though it does not yet appear what we shall, but when Jesus comes again we will know even as we are known. We shall see Jesus as He is and we shall be like Him. Now we see and know truth only in part as through a glass dimly, but then we shall see and know Him face to face.

We labor now not for that which perishes but for that which is eternal. We live to serve rather than to be served. Because we have been freely given all things we freely give generously and cheerfully, we love extravagantly and we forgive quickly.

We love our enemies, we do good to those who hate us, we bless those that curse us, and pray for those that despitefully use us. To those who strike us on one cheek we offer the other also. We show compassion to our enemies, not hoping for anything in return. We do not judge. We do not condemn.

We bring all our tithes into the storehouse and we give to help the poor, showing compassion wherever we see the need. We do for others as we would have others do for us. We pray for the needs of others, we lay hand son the sick that they may recover, we preach the Word in season and out of season, when it is convenient and when it is not convenient.

We sing, we rejoice in the Lord always. We lift up our hands without wrath and doubting. We worship the Lord in spirit and in truth. We are being changed from glory to glory. The love of God is being shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Spirit. We are renewing our minds in order to be transformed into the image of Christ.

God has begun a good work in us and He will complete it unto the day of Jesus Christ. God has not given us a spirit of fear, but a spirit of love and of power and a sound mind. We have the mind of Christ. We can do all things through Christ who strengthens us. Nothing will be impossible to us because we believe. No weapon that is formed against us shall prosper.

We tread on serpents and scorpions and over all the power of the enemy. We cast out demons. We speak with new tongues. We are the light of the world. We are the salt of the earth. We have been made the righteousness of God in Christ. Great is our reward in Heaven.

God knows our frame that we are dust, but we have the treasure of the light of the Gospel that shines in the face of Jesus Christ in our hearts, that the excellency of the power may be of God and not of us.

We live to glorify God and please Him, and He has given us all things to enjoy.
