A New Meditation on Psalm 112 - Part 7

“His heart is established; He will not be afraid, until he sees his desire upon his enemies.” Psalm 112:8

The Peace

Our God is so good! It is such a comfort to know with absolute certainty that we are loved, to know that we are loved perfectly, purely, passionately and eternally. When we as human beings truly love someone we go out of our way to express that love.

We look for ways to surprise the one we love with unexpected gifts. Everything they do in our eyes is the best. They are the most beautiful, the most talented, the sweetest, the strongest, the kindest, the gentlest, the handsomest we have ever seen, the most graceful, the smartest, the most brilliant…you add your own superlatives.

Our love overflows with a sense of warmth and caring. It just feels good to love someone and even more to be loved in return. And that kind of love translates into trust. We are confident that we would never knowingly, intentionally seek to harm the one we love. To do so would not be an expression of love but of evil, of sin and death.

Love, true love, wants to enhance and invigorate life, to support it and intensify its pleasure and goodness. All that is not true love seeks only to steal, to kill and to destroy. This is the way of the thief and all his manifestations.

The true lover of our souls is God the Father, Jesus the Son and the blessed Holy Spirit. They desire only our good, the fullest, the longest, the widest, the deepest and the highest expression of life that can be known by us. Theirs and only theirs is a love that we can be confident in because they will never…ever…never, never ever fail us.

Love cannot fail. So, what God has promised concerning us He will do.

To have a heart established (fixed) and not afraid is to have a heart that is confident of the love of God and the integrity of His Word. Even though those who oppose us might temporarily seem to be gaining the upper hand they will all ultimately fall before us. Our God will never let us utterly be ashamed or lost.

The message of the Angel Gabriel to Zacharias was “Do not be afraid!” The message he brought to Mary and to Joseph was “Do not be afraid!” The message of Jesus to the disciples on the water was, “Do not be afraid!” The message of Jesus to Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of Jesus was “Do not be afraid!” The message to every believer, to you and me today is “Do not be afraid.” “Fear not!”

“Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God, I will strengthen you, Yes, I wi

ll help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.” Isaiah 41:10

God is with us, and where the Spirit of the Lord is there is peace. We are loved and there is no reason to fear. God is good all the time and there is every reason to trust Him. He is the same yesterday, today and forever.

My earnest prayer for you is that you will be filled with His joy and peace and that you will know and be blessed beyond measure by His love

“For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man; That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God. Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.” Ephesians 3:14-21
