The Lord is My Refuge
“I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.” Psalm 91:2
Before and beyond all else, God alone is our source. He is our refuge, our fortress and our God. In Him we will trust. It’s engraved on our currency as a nation signifying that the source of our nation's wealth and prosperity is not the mere work of our hands, but from the founding of the first colonies to this day God alone has kept and preserved us a nation.
Without Him we would be as all the other godless nations of the world, drowning in poverty, sickness, oppression and death. But thank God we are not without Him as a nation or as a people, though there are times when His Word and even references to Him seem to be threatened by the current anti-Christ social order. But as long as God’s Church, the Body of Christ, remains true to its calling and we as individuals stay true to our faith in Him by the power of the Holy Spirit, He will remain our God. He remains God regardless of what men may do, but He is our God only by faith in His Word.
So we can say, we can declare, we can live in full hope and confidence that He is God and Jesus is Lord. He is our refuge, our fortress, our God; in Him we do trust and will trust now and forever. Amen.
