Thou Shalt Not Be Afraid

“Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day; Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.” Psalm 91:5-6

Though this passage reads like one of the Ten Commandments, ‘Thou salt not steal, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not be afraid…” it is in fact biot a commandment but a promise.

“Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night nor for the arrow that flieth by day”

These are promises of God to us that the terror by night and the fiery darts of the wicked one by day are no match for the provision, protection and defense of God for his people, and He has given us the shield of faith whereby we shall quench all the fiery arrows of the devil. Pestilence and destruction shall have no effect on us. They shall not be able to touch us.

“There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.” Psalm 91:10

In the secret place of the Most High there is safety and protection, there is a confident hope and sure certainty of the truth of God’s Word, because He loves us and will never leave us or forsake us even to the ends of the World. Be encouraged today and take no thought for your life. Our heavenly Father will provide all that we need and more than enough because we trust in Him.

“No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money. “Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life? And why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin, yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is alive and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? Therefore do not be anxious, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all.” Matthew 6:24-32
