Seeking First Things
We are naturally driven at a fundamental level to do whatever is necessary to preserve our lives and at a higher dimension to satisfy our deepest hungers and passions. At best those passions can drive us to great accomplishments. A worst they can drive us to baser expressions of the darker side of our human natures. God has so created us that even at the most fundamental level of our lives, our daily bread, a place to lay our heads and clothes to wear we can trust Him to provide those essentials, so that we can devote our best energies to pursuing righteousness. Consider today’s Scripture and meditate on its deeper meaning.
Hint: There are two kingdoms
“Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” Matthew 6:31-33 KJV
