Giving, The Universal Key
Hearing these passages of Scripture read aloud you might be surprised at how overwhelming the depth of meaning there is to be found in them. So often preached about and usually with an agenda in mind we could miss the deeper more abiding message hidden in them.
As you think on these today consider this question. Is it God’s intent that we show no discretion in our giving? Or is there something more to the commandment to give to everyman that asks of you?
Hint: See Luke 6:30 and Luke 11:11-13 below
“Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.” Luke 6:38
“Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.” Luke 12:32
“And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you.” John 16:23
“Give to every man that asketh of thee; and of him that taketh away thy goods ask them not again.” Luke 6:30
“If a son shall ask bread of any of you that is a father, will he give him a stone? or if he ask a fish, will he for a fish give him a serpent? If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?” Luke 11:11-13
