When I Survey The Wondrous Cross
“But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.” Isaiah 53:5
We know that the suffering, death and RESRRECTION of Jesus is the center of our faith for salvation, but it is also the anchor of our faith for healing. Jesus went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed of the devil. [Acts 10:37-38]
Now Jesus has charged us, by way of the cross, to go into all the world and preach the Gospel, heal the sick and do the works that He did and greater works because He has been raised from the dead and is now seated at the right hand of God the Father.
“Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father.” John 14:12
In the cross we have faith believing that Jesus’ death paid the debt for our sin and now we stand in Him and He in us, righteous before God. The same cross that bought us salvation also bought us healing. Through His precious sinless blood spilt there we also have our pathway to eternal life and the sure and certain promise that Jesus is with us always.
As God was with Him, He is now with us. So, what does it mean that Jesus is with us? As you read these passages aloud today listen and allow the Holy Spirit to reveal to your heart the deeper truth in what it means that God is with us, that Jesus, The Father and the Holy Spirit are resident in us as we live our lives day to day.
Hint: Mark 16: 15-18
“ ‘Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.’ Amen.” Matthew 28:19-20
