Receiving is a blessing too!
“Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.” Luke 12:32
Ask that you may receive, give and it shall be given, it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the Kingdom, you shall receive power; all these promises have one thing in common, they remind us that there is blessing, joy and pleasure in receiving. Yes it is more blessed to give than to receive but that doesn’t mean there is no blessing in receiving. Indeed, receiving is essential to giving otherwise giving is not complete. If God only gave blessings and no one received them where would He find joy? To whom would He give?
If you or I made all our giving without directing it toward blessing others where is the joy in that? The joy and pleasure and indeed the more blessedness of giving is the joy of knowing the gift given has been received with joy and resulted in enrichment for the one to whom it was given. A burden lifted, a need met, a relief provided, a favor extended, a word fitly spoken; Wisdom says, they are like apples of gold in settings of silver to the one receiving them.
As you have opportunity share with our Father, God, the joy of your appreciation for what He provides and for those through whom He provides it. He takes pleasure in your pleasure in Him.
