Getting Ready For - Part 8
“Let the heavens rejoice, and let the earth be glad; Let the sea roar, and all its fullness; Let the field be joyful, and all that is in it. Then all the trees of the woods will rejoice before the Lord. For He is coming, for He is coming to judge the earth. He shall judge the world with righteousness, and the peoples with His truth. Psalm 96:11-13
The Heavens, the sea, the field, all the trees, what a picture! All these rejoicing and roaring with gladness and joy before the Lord!
We can easily imagine the heavens, angelic beings and all the planets, stars and galaxies radiant with light and teaming with life, everything in perfect balance and harmony, but to also see the roaring of the sees, the vegetation and all creatures of the earth, sea and sky in a dazzling display of exuberance is an amazing thing.
Last summer by virtue of a most generous gift I was able to take a cruise for the first time in my life and so I chose Alaska, the voyage of the glaciers. It was outstanding to say the least! One unique experience for me was to visit the Yukon Territory as a side trip and get to see sled dogs as they were preparing to pull a sled.
Just prior to the time they would be hooked to the line on the sled they were all up against a fence being petted and engaging with the tourists who were there for the ride. Then suddenly the sled came into view and these dogs began to leap and lunge and bark with such excitement like I’d never seen anywhere before. They were at a fever pitch of excitement to get to run. Their handlers could hardly contain them long enough to hook them to the line connected to the sled. They were jumping and lunging forward with such energy and excitement all the while barking as though they were all communicating with one another, "Arf! ! Arf!! Are!!"
“It’s time to run!!!!!" “It’s time to run!!!!!" “It’s time to run!!!!!" "Yippeeeee!!!"
Wow! I’d never seen anything like it. What a display of joy-filled anticipation!
Seeing that, I can imagine now what a joy it will be for all creation to be set free from the bondage of sin that all have been under since the fall of man. The Scriptures tell us this.
“For the earnest expectation of the creation eagerly waits for the revealing of the sons of God. For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of Him who subjected it in hope; because the creation itself also will be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God. For we know that the whole creation groans and labors with birth pangs together until now. Not only that, but we also who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, eagerly waiting for the adoption, the redemption of our body.” Romans 8:19-23
And that redemption is ours, bought and paid for in full by the blood of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. So we eagerly await the resurrection and sudden, in-the-twinkling-of-an-eye transformation from mortality into immortality at the appearing of our Lord.
“Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.” 1 Corinthians 15:51-53
Jesus is coming! Soon and very soon!!
