Exclusively God’s Given to Us

“…For Thine is the Kingdom and the power and the glory forever.” Matthew 6:13

In other words, we could say, “Yours is the Kingdom.”

The Kingdom belongs to God it is His exclusively to do with as it pleases Him. Likewise, the power and the glory all are His sole possessions. He created them and no created being has a claim to them. Lucifer, the angel of light, (that is what his name means) sought to lay claim to a portion of heaven to establish His on kingdom. {See Isaiah… Ezekiel…) but, God removed him from the exalted place that he did hold above all other angelic beings. Before his rebellion he was one of the highest orders of angels, the Cherubim. He was called the covering cherub. [See Ezekiel… Isaiah…] Above the Ark of the Covenant there were two Cherubs with their wings above the mercy seat. The mercy seat was the place where God said to Moses that He would meet and commune with him. [Exodus 25-26] Cherubim are closely associated with the throne of God and Lucifer held the closest association with the glory of God as the Covering Cherub, who was created perfect in the day he was created until iniquity was found in him. In that day he lost it all and was cast out of Heaven. (See Isaiah 28:11-19)

“By the multitude of thy merchandise they have filled the midst of thee with violence, and thou hast sinned: therefore I will cast thee as profane out of the mountain of God: and I will destroy thee, O covering cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire.” Ezekiel 28:16

The Kingdom of God, the Power of God (and there is no greater), and the Glory of God are sovereignly His to enjoy. Remarkably however, Jesus Christ our Savior and Lord, now risen from the dead having suffered persecution, crucifixion, death and burial for us, seated now on His throne at the right hand of God the Father, has through His great love for us opened a pathway for us to all the glory and blessing that Lucifer sought to steal through cunning, deceit, murder and death. It has all been freely giving to us.

“Fear not little flock for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.” Luke 12:32

The power of God is also His exclusively, but He has given a measure of that power to us to be His witnesses in the world.

“And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.” Luke 24:49

“And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power. But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.” Acts 1:7-8

And finally the glory of God which is so Holy and so magnificent that Moses could not look directly into the face of God, but Jesus prayed that we, His disciples, would share in the glory that is His and the Father’s exclusively.

“And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one…” John 17:22

The Kingdom, the Power and the Glory of God have been given to and shared with us. We can claim them and receive them without apology or reservation. When you give a gift to your children how much do you want them to enjoy it? Marginally? Moderately? Denying they actually received it? No. You want them to embrace and make use of it, enjoy it and even share to with others to also enjoy.

In Jesus Christ we now have all things to enjoy.

“He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?” Romans 8:32
