Lent – Day 28 – A Prayer For Our Nation

Our Father and our God we bless and magnify Your Name. Holy and righteous are You, Just and the Justifier of all who call on Your Name for salvation, for healing, for mercy, for grace and for provision.

Father, You alone are our Provider and we look to no other God but You. There is no other God, no other Savior and no other Lord. We love You, Lord, but even more, we know that You love us and You proved it by sending us Your Son, our Lord, Jesus Christ to be our all-atoning, redeeming sacrifice for our sins and not for ours only, but for the whole world.

Today Lord, we come before You to thank You for this nation, and for giving her to us to possess, to steward and to prosper in as we worship and honor You with our gifts, our talents, our witness, our service to Your Kingdom’s cause and our prayers.

Lord our nation is under attack, The Church is under attack. The values and moral principles that we once all held as sacred have been steadily eroding away by agendas dishonoring God, that hate our Lord Jesus and hate us His church. Where we once were free to instruct those who oppose themselves b y openly proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ now we risk mocking, criticism vitriolic speech and violence and ridicule even imprisonment because we stand for the truth of your WORD in Jesus Christ.

We pray today that You would restore decency, integrity and civility to the political and social discourses that are filling the airways and stirring such strife and division as we have never known before. Lord, Your Word warns us of the wars that come from such fighting and division and we want no part of it.

Lord, move on the hearts of Your people to stand for what is right, regardless of the impact it may have on us temporarily. Teach us to trust You as we make critical decisions about the future of our country, the education of our children, our economy, our political, social and most importantly the spiritual life of the nation.

Bring to our hearing words of truth and protect us from the noise of the deceivers, liars, false witnesses and those who hate us unto death.

Forgive us Lord for not being as strong in You and in the power of Your might to boldly proclaim the name of Jesus and declare Your glory among the people. Fit us now with Your full armor to do warfare in the Spirit that will render our two-edged swords sharper and more powerful than any two-edged sword of man. Fill our mouths with words of truth that will push back against the darkness and bring to light all things that are hidden in the darkness of social and political rhetoric and moral acquiescence to the ways of the world.

Father, please deliver us from the hands of those who would only ensnare us in the bondages of selfishness, greed, lusts and manipulation. Remove far from us those men and women who want only to exploit the poor and needy and prevent them from hearing the true Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. And Lord open pathways for Your Word to be proclaimed so that men and women will know the truth and the truth will make them free.

Finally, Lord, please raise up and reveal among us worthy men and women of highest integrity and honor, of faith in you and strength of character not to be swayed by the cunning craftiness of men or angels, Please impress on everyone who claims Your name as Christians to vote, not to sit on the sidelines waiting for You to do something when You have commissioned us to go into all the World and preach the Gospel to every creature so those who hear may believe and receive salvation through faith in our Lord Jesus Christ.

Thank You Father, thank You, Jesus, thank You, Holy Spirit. Amen.
