A Prayer for Peace

“I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.” 1Tim. 2:1-4

God wants us to live peaceful lives. He wants all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. Those in authority, heads of governments, those who make laws and those who enforce them, need to do so from a perspective of truth that comes only from God. In order for this to happen you and I must pray for them, make supplications and intercessions for them, and most of all give thanks to God that He will guide and direct the affairs of the state, the nation and the world.

As good citizens we are right to vote, to be engaged in the political process, stay informed about what is going on in our government but more than all these as believers we are called on to pray for our nation, to pray for peace both at home and throughout the world. Our prayers can make all the difference.

Would you take a moment and pray with me now?

“Our Father, God who rules over heaven and earth, Creator of all things, Holy and righteous are You Lord and worthy of all glory, honor, majesty, dominion, authority and praise. Lord, we join together now to pray that Your kingdom will come and Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. We pray today for Your provision for all our needs and for Your forgiveness where we’ve missed the mark and failed to do Your will. Forgive us Lord and set our hearts right to serve You and to worship You in spirit and in truth.

Now Lord, we lift up our prayer for those in authority over this nation. We pray for peace over the United States of America and for every nation on earth to know and confess the Prince of Peace, JESUS CHRIST our Lord. We pray for the president of the United States and his cabinet, for those in both houses of congress, for the Supreme court and for all those who make laws, rules and regulations that impact our lives.

We pray for Your wisdom to guide and direct all that they do and all the decisions that they make concerning us. We pray that You will give them ears to hear what Your Spirit speaks to them and hearts to understand and the will to carry out Your righteousness regardless of their political identification. We pray that the works of all those who oppose Your righteousness will come to naught.

We pray that every man and women in office now at the Federal, State and Local levels of government will hear only Your voice speaking to them concerning the issues of our time, international affairs and our military readiness for any threat to our nation and it’s sovereignty, and that they will hear and heed Your call for righteousness, not to be self-serving or duplicitous, not to ignore the truth of Your Word which is the only means by which this republic will stand.

We resist the enemy of God and of Your people Lord and we intercede for those in government and command that every stronghold that has been placed on the hearts and minds of those in positions of authority in this nation be loosed now!in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth. We take authority over every demonic spirit set on the destruction of this nation and we bind them and command them now to be cast out of this country and made to wonder in some dry deserted place until the Day of Judgment.

Now Father, God we thank You for Your grace and mercy on us, for Your love and the peace You alone give to us through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen“
