You Just Keep on Believing
“While he yet spake, there cometh one from the ruler of the synagogue’s house, saying to him, Thy daughter is dead; trouble not the Master. But when Jesus heard it, he answered him, saying, Fear not: believe only, and she shall be made whole.” Luke 8:49-50
There was man named Jairus, a ruler of the Jews, whose 12-year old daughter was sick unto dearth. So he came to Jesus to ask Him to come and heal His daughter. So, Jesus set out with him to go to his house.
But a crowed of people thronged Jesus because they had heard about how He had delivered the demon possessed man from the Gaderenes region.
As they went there was a woman who had a flow of blood for 12 years pressed her way through the crowd jut for the opportunity to touch Jesus. She had spent all the money that she had on physicians but was no better. But she said to herself, If can only touché the hem of His garment I will be healed.
So when she touched Him immediately the flow of blood stopped. And Jesus said who touched me? Then Peter said, in effect, everyone is touching You, the crowd is all around. And You ask who touched You?
But Jesus said, “Somebody touched Me, for I perceived power going out from Me.”
“Now when the woman saw that she was not hidden, she came trembling; and falling down before Him, she declared to Him in the presence of all the people the reason she had touched Him and how she was healed immediately.Luke 8:47
And He said to her, “Daughter, be of good cheer; your faith has made you well. Go in peace.” Luke 8:48
But while he was still speaking to her some people came from Jairus’ house and said, “Your daughter is dead. Do not trouble the Teacher.”
Timing to heal her: Too late
Outcome of Jairus’ effort: Failure
Attitude of Jairus’s and his people: Giving up and just walking away
Attitude Toward Jesus’: Nothing He can do now, she’s dead.
It was not unlike the situation with Mary and Martha when they said to Jesus, “Lord if You had been hear our brother would not have died.” Jairus is another example. When he got the news his daughter was dead and Jesus had delayed coming to heal her. They told him, don’t; trouble the Master any further, it’s over there is no more hope.
But Jesus said to Jairus “Do not be afraid; only believe, and she will be made well.”
There was nothing more Jairus could have done. He ask Jesus to help Him and He said He would. But now…the situation said, “It’s hopeless.” There’s nothing else he could do.
But Jesus said, “Do not be afraid; only believe, and she will be made well.”
Mary and Martha, said, “If You had come three days ago our brother would not have died. But Jesus said, “Did I not say to you that if you would believe you would see the glory of God?”
When you’ve done all that you can, when you’ve stretched you faith as far as it will go hoping for things to work out. Believing that they will and trusting that all will be well and you still come to a place or a point in time when it all seems to have been for naught. Things didn’t workout the wayyou had hoped whenyou had hoped.
When it seems like there is no alternative left and nowhere else to turn, sometimes you just have to keep on standing; keep on believing; keep on trusting; keep on hoping, keep on having faith in God. Because it’s not over till He says it’s over and as long as we have faith in Him, our faith will never be disappointed.
“Father, we are standing in faith in the truth of Your Word knowing with confidence what You have promised You will do. It’s never too late for Your will to be done. Nothing is so broken that You cannot mend it, nothing so dead that You cannot raise it to life again, and nothing so lost that You cannot find it. There is nothing to difficult of You. Nothing is impossible for You.
So, we hear Your Word now in our hearts, “Do not be afraid; only believe…
So, Lord, by faith in You we see the Lazarus situations in our live raised for the dead. We see the Jairus’ daughters of our lives healed and restored to life. And like the woman with the flow of blood, with our faith we touch the hem of Your garment and our health springs forth speedily. Help us to remain steadfast and unmoved ‘til we see Your salvation complete in every are of our lives.
Thank You, Father that our prayers are heard and answered and Your will is done in our lives. In the Holy and Blessed name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ of Nazareth I pray. Amen.”
Finally, God is our true and only source for life and He is with us, always.
“Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.” Isaiah 41:10
