Where Is Your God?
“As with a sword in my bones, mine enemies reproach me; while they say daily unto me, Where is thy God? Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God.” Psalm 42:10-11
The psalmist cries out to God here in the anguish of overwhelming offenses, threats, mocking and attacks from his enemy. It’s as though their threats and mocking are a sword that pierces him to the bone.
Reproach— and express of rebuke, blame discredit, disgrace, rebuke, reprimand, admonish, chide, be mean, to criticize adversely, subject to censure and scorn.
It is a deeply troubling thing to be ridiculed for what you believe and particularly to be publically shamed or mocked for your faith in God when you have openly declared His Word and live your life unapologetically standing for what is truth and right.
But those who oppose us are being prompted by a lying spirit. They are enemies but more so is the spirit driving them in their offense and that spirit is wickedness in high places and the rulers of the darkness of this world.
“For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” Ephesians 6:12
So how do we answer their threats and the circumstances of their attacks against us?
We can say boldly and with assured confidence in the Love of God for us, my God is with me.
Where Is my God? He is here, He is with me, He is always for me. He is my Savior. He is my Provider. He is my Advocate, He is my Defender, He is my Strength. He is my Healer, mu Defender, my Hope, My Refuge. He is my life and the length of my days. He is my Joy. He is my Peace. He is my Wisdom, my Righteousness and my Holiness. He is my Lord, my God, my Father, my Comforter and my Friend who sticks closer than a brother. He is mine and I am His.
Where is my God? He is seated on His throne in Heaven and He is living in my heart. He is above all, in all and beyond all. He is in the highest high and the lowest low, the widest and the deepest deep. Where is my God? He is everywhere, in every here, in every there. Wherever is where, He is there.
And He says to all of us, in the midst of every life challenge, physically, materially, mentally, financially, relationally and spiritually:
“Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.” Isaiah 41:10
