When You Face The Impossible, Speak The Word And Trust God
“And a certain woman, which had an issue of blood twelve years,
And had suffered many things of many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse,” Mark 5:25-26
Thirteen relatively short verses in mark chapter five describe a most remarkable event in the life of Jesus’ ministry. A woman with an issue of blood for twelve years had spent everything she had on physicians and medicines until she was destitute with no source to draw turn to for help. In her desperation, discomfort weakness and pain she hears about Jesus healing people and raising the dead and performing miracles. So then and there she decided to do whatever she had to do to get to Him, if only just to touch the hem of His garment, because she had said,
“…If only I may touch His clothes, I shall be made well.” Immediately the fountain of her blood was dried up, and she felt in her body that she was healed of the affliction.” Mark 5:28-29
Her faith in Jesus was based on what she heard about Him. And she expressed that fain in what she said. ”…If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole.” Then, when she said what she believed she acted on it and nothing could dissuade her.
There was apparently no miraculous “rays” of healing power emanating from Jesus’ clothes as he walked through the crowd that day. If that had been the case all the people thronging Him would have been healed. But, this woman touching the fringe of His garment caused virtue to flow out of Him and He knew it.
“…And Jesus, immediately knowing in Himself that power had gone out of Him, turned around in the crowd and said, “Who touched My clothes? ” Mark 5:28-30
Her faith made contact with Jesus and drew on His power to heal and that power healed her immediately. That same power is available to us today, just as it was to everyone in that crowd, but only this one woman made contact with Him by her faith.
There is something about desperate-this-or-nothing-else-can-help faith. It’s all in. It’s not one option among several others. It’s the only option and we decide to choose it we invest everything we have in it, knowing that if God does not help we have not other hope.
Hallelujah!! That’s all the faith we need. That’s all the commitment God requires of us. That’s all the faith that pleases Him has to do.
Hear the Word! “Faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the Word of God.” Romans 10:17
Speak the Word! “So Jesus answered and said to them, “Have faith in God.
For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, “Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says.” Mark 11:23
Believe the Word! “…believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says.” Mark 11:23
Do the Word! “But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.” James 1:22
Then, trust in the Lord and wait patiently for Him with confident expectation and hope in Him that you will receive all that you need and more than enough.
