A God Word Is a Good Word

“A man hath joy by the answer of his mouth: and a word spoken in due season, how good is it!” Proverbs 15:23

You have the power to speak life into the heart of people, to bless with your words, to encourage, to edify, to exhort them to good works and to bring peace, hope and good to all who will hear you.

Words are the stuff of which life it self is sustained. All creation proceeded from the Word of God and by His Word we have life and that more abundantly.

“By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible.” Hebrew 11:3

Words indeed have power and Jesus upholds all things by the Word of His power.

“Who being the brightness of hisglory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high…” Hebrews 1:3

There are Words of life and words of death, Words of Good and words of evil. They are not equal, nor equivalent in anyway, and Creation is not kept in balance by the sum of both.

All things that God created were and are good and vey good. [Genesis 1:10; 1:31] Evil only dwells in darkness, but the light of the Word of life dispels it. God is light and Him is no darkness at all. The thief dwells in darkness because all his deeds are evil. All his words come only to steal, to kill and to destroy.

The ways of darkness are the ways of the fallen world. Evil had its birth in the Garden of Eden and was the child of deceit and disobedience — the deceit of the serpent and the disobedience of man. By these joining in union man lost his blessing and domino over all the earth. His words that once participated in creation [Genesis 2:19] turned immediately to expressions of fear and dread. [Genesis 3:6-3:10] Death broke the chain of eternal life in the DNA of humankind and we all became subject to it.

From this unholy union came evil, darkness, decay envy, jealousy, murder, desolation and all such things.

All creation on earth was made subject to sin and death until the Son of God, the Word, became flesh and came as the light of the world to shine in the darkness to show mankind the way of life.

“The people that walked in darkness have seena great light: they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined.” Isaiah 9:2

“And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.” John 1:5

“This is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all.” 1 John 1:5

All that is of Jesus is light. All that is not of Jesus is not of life and that which is not of life is of death. Jesus is the light of the world.

“And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.”John 3:19

“Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.” Romans 12:21

“For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light.” Ephesians 5:8

Our natural state of being without salvation in Jesus Christ is darkness and death. But as new creations in Christ Jesus we now have light in us and light surrounding us. Our minds are being renewed by the light of the knowledge of Jesus Christ, by His Word spoken out of our mouths and by His Spirit dwelling in our hearts to give us the light.

“For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.” 2 Corinthians 4:6

Our words now are not merely the utterances of speech, but those spoken by faith and motivated by the love of God are the power of God’s light in the world. When we speak His Word we speak light in darkness and darkness has to flee.

Just think of it. Your words are a source of life with the power to change a person’s heart from despair to hope, from fear to love, from hopelessness to joyful anticipation. When we speak encouraging words into the life of another person we speak Jesus into their hearts. The devil has no power over the love of Jesus. And God gives us this power and authority to speak.

“For I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries shall not be able to gainsay nor resist.” Luke 21:15

We have life and death in the power of our tongues. And the choice to speak them is in us alone.

“A man hath joy by the answer of his mouth: and a word spoken in due season, how good is it!” Proverbs 15:23

Think of this. When you have a prompting in your heart to speak good things and blessings into someone’s life, including your own, don’t quench that spirit. If you will by faith, speak God’s word to the heart of anyone, God will confirm your words and cause them to prosper in the heart of the one to whom they are spoken.

“So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.” Isaiah 55:11
