Proverbs – News From The Source - Part 8

“My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my commandments with thee; So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding; Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding; If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures; Then shalt thou understand the fear of the Lord, and find the knowledge of God. For the Lord giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.” Proverbs 2:1-6

When a person is truly hungry or thirsty there is an overwhelming and very real desperation to get water and food. The hungry soul is not cavalier or cynical about food. They will eagerly eat whatever is placed before them. There are times in our lives when we are hungry in our souls for righteousness. Not for our salvation, that is sealed and finished in Jesus Christ. But hungry for things to be right, hungry for justice to prevail, not some socially manufactured idea of justice but Godly justice and righteousness based on God’s Word. Such a time is now. We hunger and thirst for truth and honesty in our world where men and women don’t put political and social agendas ahead of truth and decency.

We are hungry for God’s Word to be established as the standard by which our local, state and national laws are created and enforced. We hunger for the truth to reign now among us as a people, as the Church of Jesus Christ and as “One nation under God...”

What’s the answer?

“My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my commandments with thee; So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding; Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding; If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures; Then shalt thou understand the fear of the Lord, and find the knowledge of God. For the Lord giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.”

The Word of God heard and heeded in our hearts, in our words and in our actions is the key to finding the answers to every need of life. First, we receive His Word. The Bible is our primary and final source for the Word of God. While there are many brilliant teachers, evangelists, prophets, pastors and apostles of God, each one is a gift to the body of Christ, the church and their ministries begin and end with the Word of God. The more passionate we are for making the Word a part of our daily lives making every effort to know it, and establish it in our hearts, declaring it with our mouths and living out our obedience to it, the more we will realize the presence of the gory of God with us in everything we do.

Wisdom is God’s gift to us. What He has said and what He is speaking in our hearts today is wisdom from above that is pure, peaceful, powerful, sharp, alive and full mercy good fruits and life.

“For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” Hebrews 4:12

“But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.” James 3:17
