News From The Source – Part 16

“The Lord by wisdom hath founded the earth; by understanding hath he established the heavens. By his knowledge the depths are broken up, and the clouds drop down the dew.” Proverbs 3:19-20

Throughout the Scriptures at various times and dealing with various subjects references are often made to God as Creator of all things and particularly the things that are evident all around us. We are aware of the earth, the atmosphere in the midst of the sky, the seas, and the majestic beauty of the mountains, hills and valleys, lakes and streams. We see the Heavens arrayed with the glory of stars and planets, galaxies and wonders too resplendent to tell. All these are the works of God’s wisdom each uniquely designed and perfectly set in order and balance to hold together, one in juxtaposition to the other; a marvel of expression beyond the comprehension of the greatest mathematical minds and philosophical thinkers. Human wisdom alone cannot comprehend it, though countless millions throughout the ages have sought unceasingly to do so. Still God has chosen to reveal just the mere fringes of it to men. Yet, even that is overwhelming.

“Whence then cometh wisdom? and where is the place of understanding? Seeing it is hid from the eyes of all living, and kept close from the fowls of the air. Destruction and death say, We have heard the fame thereof with our ears. God understandeth the way thereof, and he knoweth the place thereof. For he looketh to the ends of the earth, and seeth under the whole heaven; To make the weight for the winds; and he weigheth the waters by measure.” Job 28:20 -25

Here we get a glimpse of the just the tiniest sliver of creation. Job declares this to Bildad, one of his “comforters,” who has just pontificated about what a wretched maggot man is. Jus the kind of thing you want to hear when you’ve just lost everything suddenly, including all your family, and you don’t know why. I can imagine Bildad saying, something like this. “Poor Job, all this calamity has come upon you because in God’s eyes you’re just a maggot, a slimy worm. If anything good happens in the world it’s a mistake. So, don’t take it personally. Besides, it’s only going to get worse and then you die. Well, have a nice day!”

“But Job answered and said: “How have you helped him who is without power? How have you saved the arm that has no strength? How have you counseled one who has no wisdom? And how have you declared sound advice to many? To whom have you uttered words? And whose spirit came from you? “The dead tremble, those under the waters and those inhabiting them. Sheol is naked before Him, and Destruction has no covering. He stretches out the north over empty space; He hangs the earth on nothing. He binds up the water in His thick clouds, yet the clouds are not broken under it. He covers the face of His throne, And spreads His cloud over it. He drew a circular horizon on the face of the waters, at the boundary of light and darkness. The pillars of heaven tremble, and are astonished at His rebuke. He stirs up the sea with His power, and by His understanding He breaks up the storm. By His Spirit He adorned the heavens; His hand pierced the fleeing serpent. Indeed these are the mere edges of His ways, and how small a whisper we hear of Him! But the thunder of His power who can understand?” Job 26:1:14 NKJV

All that can be humanly comprehended of creation is but a mere whisper of God’s power. Glory to God!!! Think of it!

We can hardly imagine the vastness of the enormity of the earth when compared to the stature of one man. Then to fully comprehend just our solar system exceeds the capacity of imagination. We’ve all seen pictures of what appears to be a swirling mass of stars and planets circumnavigating the sun but we have no idea how really vast this so called Milky Way Galaxy is. Now expand your thinking to consider other galaxies, stars and planets even greater in size than the Milky Way Galaxy according to astronomy studies and discovery. Then imagine how big God must be if all things He created were created by Him for His pleasure. They have been set in their courses from the beginning and to this day they have not strayed or failed to continue in their appointed orbit.

Now if you really want to wrap your brain around creation, as you view the images below consider a man and then consider the smallest bird we know of in relationship to even the smallest planet. Here are some pictures for perspective.

This is Earth compared to smaller planets in our solar system.

This is the Earth compared to larger planets in our Solar system.

This is Earth compared to the Sun. It’s the fourth tiny speck to the left at the bottom of the picture. Keep in mind that we are totally imperceptible specks on the Earth at the scale of these Heavenly bodies.

This is our Sun compared to Arcturus the fifth largest planet in the universe that has been discovered so far.

Now here is Arcturus compared to Antares the largest planet in our universe.

And these are but the whispers, the fringes, the tassels, the mere peripheries of God’s ways.

Is there any wonder why the psalmist wrote,

“When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained; What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?” Psalm 8:3-4

All these came into being by the wisdom of God. Creation based on intelligent design and purpose is the expression of the wisdom of God.

Consider therefore, how powerful the wisdom of God is. All creation resulted from it.
