Proverbs — News From The Source - Part 18
“When you lie down, you will not be afraid; yes, you will lie down and your sleep will be sweet. Do not be afraid of sudden terror, nor of trouble from the wicked when it comes; for the Lord will be your confidence, and will keep your foot from being caught.” Proverbs 3:24-26
When our lives are directed by wisdom and discretion our minds are at peace. We are not moved by the prognosticators of evil or threats of violence, because the Lord is our assurance and safety. Fear does not keep us in a state of anxiety and unrest.
“A good man deals graciously and lends; he will guide his affairs with discretion. Surely he will never be shaken; the righteous will be in everlasting remembrance. He will not be afraid of evil tidings; his heart is steadfast, trusting in the Lord.” Psalm 112:5-7
The heart of the man or woman that is established on sound wisdom and discretion, on the Word of God, and truly trusting Him, will find rest, and sleep will come easily to them. When they lie down to sleep, their sleep will be restful and refreshing. It will be sweet, because they are not worried or anxious about the threats of wicked men or the judgment of God. They know the salvation of Jesus Christ, which redeems then from the judgment of the Law. [Romans 8:2]
Wisdom and discretion gives us a sense of confidence in the Lord because His Word is truth and it is established forever.
“…for the Lord will be your confidence, and will keep your foot from being caught.”
The Lord by the Holy Spirit in us will keep us from being caught off guard or being blindsided by evil. Wisdom will give us discernment to know how to avoid the stumbling blocks and snares of the enemy.
Wisdom and discretion will always guide us to the pathway of life and all that is good.
