Proverbs – News From The Source - Part 22 – D
“Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it spring the issues of life.” Proverbs 4:23
The heart is the center of life flow to the body because it pumps life sustaining blood that contains among other things oxygen the “breath of life” to all the bodies systems and by it also carries away toxins to the systems that release them from the body. The heart is also the spiritual depository of the Words of life that keeps the body, the mind and the spirit working in harmony with one another. Metaphorically it is the dwelling place of God and Jesus in us.
The heart that is healthy gives us the strength to move, to excel physically in a variety of pursuits, occupationally and recreationally. The heart is the central place of initiation for our feelings and emotions, our passions and success, our failures and fears, our sorrows our griefs, our joys and our pleasures.
The heart is where we connect with life for good or for ill. When the heart is full of the Word of God in abundance, out of it the mouth will speak the Word of God. What we say, declare and confess, particularly in matters of our well-being, provisions, hopes dreams and earnest expectations, and all essential things for sustaining our lives, is determining whether we succeed or fail in the realization of those things.
The tongue is the avenue on which life travels from the heart out to the atmosphere, when we speak into the spirit realm where all things in the natural world find their origin. This is why we pray, in order to affect things in the spirit. Our words change the atmosphere around us and resultantly they affect the spirit beings who are resident there.
Jesus told us that His words are spirit and they are life. When we speak His Words we are speaking life into the spirit.
“It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.” John 6:63
Among those who dwell in the spirit there are both angels and demons. On the demonic side are those the Scriptures refer to as principalities and powers, those who traffic in spiritual wickedness in high places. These are those we wrestle with and wage warfare against by the Words of God we speak, declare, preach, teach and confess.
“For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” Ephesians 6:12
On the angelic side are ministering sprits sent forth by God to minister for us who the heirs of salvation.
“Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?” Hebrews 1:14
Think about that. The principalities and powers of the air are being countered and overwhelmed by the ministering spirits of God on our behalf. They are there exclusively to defend and protect us, the people of God, the Church, every believer in Jesus, from the works of the devil that are set against us.
The ministering angels are moved to action when we speak God’s Words. When we pray in Jesus’ name and when we preach the truth of the Word of God, when we confess from the abundance of His Words in our heart, and acting on it them by faith, believing them in our hearts, and speaking them out of our mouths, we activate angels and we send demonic forces fleeing from us.
“Bless the Lord, you His angels, who excel in strength, who do His word, heeding the voice of His word.” Psalm 103:20
Finally, consider this. God has declared that His Word that has gone out from Him will not return to Him void. It will not return to Him empty and bereft of power. So how does His Word return to Him? It returns to Him from the abundance of the heart of a believer filled with His Word who speaks it out of his mouth in faith believing it will come to pass.
When we pray God’s Word from our hearts we are speaking life and life is being multiplied back to us from the Spirit of God.
