Lent – Day 17 – A Prayer for Hope
“Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.” Isaiah 43:19
“Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us”. Romans 5:5
“Our Father in heaven, Holy and Righteous are You, kind and full of mercy with grace abounding to us daily, sufficient for every need. Today Father we pray for a renewed spirit of hope, a renewed spirit of expectation for what is good. Sometimes we are shaken by the circumstances of life that would try to steal our hope and lead us into despair. When hope is deferred we become sick at heart, our joy is taken away and we tempted to fall into a snare of helplessness. But we are neither helpless nor alone in this world as long as we are abiding in You.
Please remove far from us the temptation to embrace the lies of the enemy who tries to tell us that we are not going to make it, when the truth is we are already more than conquerors through Jesus Christ who loves us. We are more than abundantly supplied according to Your riches in glory by Christ Jesus. We are now the sons of God. We are now seated together with You in heavenly places. We are now the head and not the tail, above only and not beneath. We are now the people of God, the sheep of the Great Shepherd. We are now the righteousness of God in Christ and it is Your pleasure to give us the Kingdom. So, we need not fear or be dismayed.
Our Hope is in You and it will not be disappointed because we know You love us and You care for us. We are fully persuaded that You will make a way out of no way and give us water even in the desert.
Thank You, Father that we can, with confidence and assurance, hope in You and You will never fail us. Thank You for Hope today and every day as we put our trust in You. In the blessed and Holy name of Jesus Christ our Lord we pray. AMEN”
