Lent – Day 25 — A Prayer for Truth
“Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed;and ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” John 8:31-32
“Then shall we know, if we follow on to know the Lord: his going forth is prepared as the morning; and he shall come unto us as the rain, as the latter and former rain unto the earth.” Hosea 6:3
Father, God and Lord, Sovereign King of all Creation, Your Word tells us if we continue in Your Word then are we Your disciples indeed and we will know the truth and the truth shall make us free. We pray for truth today. We pray for the ability to hear and receive Your Word implanted in our hearts and minds, to guide and direct us in the ways of wisdom and righteousness.
We pray for truth to keep us from the things that would distract us and deter us from the fulfillment of Your purpose and plan for our lives. We pray for truth that is the sure foundation on which we can build our lives to serve Your kingdom’s purpose and find our true calling and place in the body of Christ to the end that Your kingdom will come on the earth as it is in heaven.
Father, please teach us to know the truth and in knowing truth reject all lies no matter how compelling or charming they may appear to be on the surface. Give us the insight and the discernment to not be seduced by the beguiling persuasions of the false emotional appeals of the fakers hiding behind the innocent claiming to be their champion when in truth they are frauds praying on the vulnerability of tender hearts.
Our hearts’ desire is to know You and to serve You, to honor You and glorify You in all that we think and say and do, everyday of our lives. We worship You today, Father, with the faith to believe that what we have asked for, You will grant us. Thank You, Father, for answered prayer in the Blessed and Holy Name of Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord, The Way, The Truth, and The Life we pray. AMEN”
