Lent – Day 26 A Prayer of Gratitude
"In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you." 1 Thessalonians 5:18
“Father, there is an old song we used to sing that says,
“We’ve come this far by faith,
Leaning on the Lord,
Trusting in His holy word.
He never failed me yet.
Oh, oh oh oh,
Oh oh oh, can’t turn around.
We‘ve come this far by faith.”
Lord, by faith we have walked with You and You have led us through good times and bad, through tests and trials, thorough triumphs and victories, through abundance and lack and by Your grace You will lead us on to the prize of our high calling.
Thank You for never abandoning us to our failures or to our fears. Thank You for always forgiving our sins and understanding our weaknesses. Thank You for giving us strength greater than the tasks before us. Thank You for making a way when there seemed to be no way.
Thank You for providing all that we need and so much more; for what we can see and for what we cannot see. Thank You for protecting us from the evil one and surrounding us with Your ministering spirits. Thank You for food and clothes and shelter, for friends and families, for houses of worship and places to gather in comfort and safety, free from the threat of war and violence.
Thank You for peace in the midst of the storm and safety when danger threatens. Thank You for the joy-filled unexpected surprises that You just give to us because You love us. Thank You for the joy of the Lord which is our strength and thank You for gifts of industry, science, medicine, technology and discovery.
Thank You for cars and homes and systems of communication that we can enjoy and use in the declaration of the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. Thank You for rest when we are weary. Thank You for rain on our land that brings forth the fruit and beauty of the earth, for trees and forests for flowers and green plants, for majestic mountains and verdant valleys. Thank You for blue skies and wide open spaces, for cities and countries, for animals and birds, and for all the wonders of nature.
Thank You for close companions, friends, loved ones and colleagues who share our passions and interests. Thank You for Your grace and mercy to us. Thank You for Your Love. Thank You for Jesus, and thank You for the Holy Spirit, Who is with us and in us, leading us day by day. Thank You Father for life and that more abundantly. Thank You, Thank You Thank You. In the blessed, matchless, and Holy Name of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His Holy Name we pray. AMEN.”
