Lent Day 40 — A Prayer to Hear
“And he said unto them, He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.” Mark 4:9
“Dear Heavenly Father, we began this forty days of Lent with the faith to believe that prayer makes a difference, that through prayer You make Your presence and Your will manifested in our lives. So, for forty days now we have prayed and petitioned You for a closer walk with You in our daily lives. We have prayed for deliverance from the snares of the enemy, for the salvation of friends, family and the lost, and for Your provision for our Church, our families and our nation.
We have prayed for Your guidance and strength to meet each day’s challenges. We have prayed for joy and laughter in our lives, for a merry heart and a cheerful countenance. We have prayed to be armed with Your full armor. We have prayed for hope, for faith, for the surplus of provision to be equipped to show Your kindness to others. We have prayed for the poor, the lost and the hurting.
We have prayed for those who are on the mission field in foreign countries as well as those who are sacrificing the comforts of home and safety here at home in order to meet the needs of those in places of danger and uncertain security in far off places in our world. We have prayed for wisdom and knowledge, for understanding and for peace.
We have prayed for this nation and its leaders, for those who serve in our military and those who serve and protect our cities, our neighborhoods and communities, great and small. We have prayed for Your will to be done on earth as it is in Heaven.
We have prayed for help, for provision, for healing, for wholeness of body, mind, and spirit. We have prayed for favor, for clarity of mind and thought, for insight and discernment. We have prayed for the capacity to love as You love, and to live our lives in such ways that we bring glory to Your name and that people will see Jesus in us.
We have prayed for forgiveness, and we’ve confessed the blessings of Your Word over ourselves and over those we love.
In all these days we have laid out our cases before You.
Now, on this fortieth and last day of Lent we ask only one thing, that You would speak to us, Lord. We are listening for Your voice. Thank You for hearing our petitions. Now we seek Your answers. Please give us the ears to hear You and to know Your voice apart from all the din of noise around us. By faith we receive now all that You have granted us. Thank You Father, thank You Jesus, thank You Holy Spirit, in the Holy name of our Lord Jesus Christ we pray. AMEN”
