Goodness Guaranteed

“It is a good thing to give thanks unto the Lord, and to sing praises unto thy name, O most High: To shew forth thy lovingkindness in the morning, and thy faithfulness every night, Upon an instrument of ten strings, and upon the psaltery; upon the harp with a solemn sound. For thou, Lord, hast made me glad through thy work: I will triumph in the works of thy hands.” Psalm 92:4

There is a place of guaranteed goodness. There is an act of unalloyed righteousness. There is a communion with God that is always true. That is Worship of God the Almighty, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

Worship is good because it focuses us on the only true God and the only One who is worthy of worship. When we make music to the Lord we join an eternal expression of glory that extends from the beginning of creation into the eternity of eternities and attends the presence of God unceasingly. The daily affirmations of God’s character in worship from the first hours of the morning to the last moments before sleep engages us with the realization that God is with us and His kingdom’s rule is established in our lives.

Worship changes our perspective on life, from the temporal limitations of human resources, empty pursuits for pleasure, and the selfish expense of our energies, to the eternal beauty of God, the all-surpassing majesty and glory of His presence and the limitless resources of His Kingdom that define for us the fulfillment of our purpose as those created to be kings and priests unto our God. (Revelation 5:10)

“It is good to praise the Lord and make music to Your name, O Most High”

“...I sing for joy at the works of Your hands.” Psalm 92:1

Consider the works of the Lord, how He fashioned all creation, how He made the intricacies of every living thing, how awesome are all His ways. Is there anything, any being more worthy of our contemplation than the nature and character of God? Consider Jesus, the exact expression of God. Whether in declared statements, songs of praise or quiet meditation, when we worship the Lord we participate in something good, something mind renewing and life transforming.

“…the Lord on high is mighty…holiness adorns your house for endless days, O Lord.” Psalm 92:4-5
