Awake With the Song of The Lord
“Awake up, my glory; awake, psaltery and harp: I myself will awake early. I will praise thee, O Lord, among the people: I will sing unto thee among the nations. For thy mercy is great unto the heavens, and thy truth unto the clouds. Be thou exalted, O God, above the heavens: let thy glory be above all the earth.” Psalm 57:8-11
How amazing it is that God has given us the choice of life or death, blessing or cursing. He doesn’t make the choice for us, but He places it in our authority to choose which we will have. Choosing life we live and in living we have joy, comfort, peace, blessings, and abundance of His great grace, mercy and Love.
“I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live…” Deuteronomy 30:19
In death there is sorrow and sadness, grief and pain, loss, want, poverty, discomfort and all the attendant emotions and mental burdens that weigh us down and deplete our energies and resources. But, in Life there is love and hope, peace and promise. There is cheerfulness and abundance of blessing and provision, no sickness, no death, no sorrow no pain, ultimately.
In this world we all have to deal with these from time to time, but they do not remain, and they must flee the presence of the Lord at all times, because where the Spirit of the Lord is there is liberty. [2 Corinthians 3:17] With liberty comes rejoicing!
Each new day offers us the opportunity to choose life. Every moment of every day the choice still stands before us. We forget sometimes that God has given us the greatest gift and weapon against sorrow of heart and despair. That gift is the Holy Spirit and that weapon is God’s love.
Love is a weapon? Yes, when it is used to motivate our faith to put our trust in God by turning the lies of the enemy back on his own head. We do this when we choose to be happy and carefree in the midst of the storm, to trust God when the need seems overwhelming, to be encouraged when things appear to be going all wrong, to speak life into every situation that would try to rob us of our righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.
As our day begins we get to choose how it will unfold, at least to the extent of how we will respond to it.
This is the day the Lord has made, we will rejoice and we will be glad in it. It’s our choice.
“This is the day the Lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it." Psalm 118:24
Declare it today, from the heart. We choose life. We will rejoice in the Lord and be glad all day. Let us worship the Lord. Let us praise Him! Let us sing to Him and declare His glory. Consider His majesty, His magnificent glory, the wonders of the earth and the Heavens, the incomprehensible radiance of His beauty, His power and His dominion, the unending expanse of His creation that will never cease.
“Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and His ways past finding out!” Romans 11:33
Now here is a glorious and exciting exercise we can all do. How much of God can you imitate today? Try it.
“Therefore be imitators of God as dear children.” Ephesians 5:1
