The Call to WORSHIP and Worship - Part 2

Worshiping God in an Un-Godly World

Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD, The people He has chosen as His own inheritance. Psalm 33:12

The true WORSHIPERS shall WORSHIP the Father in Spirit and in Truth, for the Father seeks such to WORSHIP Him.

“Our fathers worshiped on this mountain, and you Jews say that in Jerusalem is the place where one ought to worship.” Jesus said to her, “Woman, believe Me, the hour is coming when you will neither on this mountain, nor in Jerusalem, worship the Father. You worship what you do not know; we know what we worship, for salvation is of the Jews. But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.” John 4:20-24

To worship the Father in Spirit and in Truth is first to understand who God is. God is more than we can comprehend or know by human understand alone, but Jesus reveals the Father to us.

First and foremost God is Spirit. God says of Himself,

“For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways,” says the LORD. Isaiah 55:8

God is not a man that He should lie, neither the son of man that He should repent.

“God is not a man, that He should lie, nor a son of man, that He should repent. Has He said, and will He not do? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good? Numbers 23:19

God dwells in light.

This is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all. 1 John 1:5

He reveals deep and secret things; He knows what is in the darkness, and light dwells with Him. Daniel 2:22

God is a consuming fire.

For the LORD your God is a consuming fire, a jealous God. Deuteronomy 4:24

God is merciful.

"...for the LORD your God is a merciful God), He will not forsake you nor destroy you, nor forget the covenant of your fathers which He swore to them." Deuteronomy 4:31

God is great, mighty, awesome and majestic.

For the LORD your God is God of gods and Lord of lords, the great God, mighty and awesome, who shows no partiality nor takes a bribe. Deuteronomy 10:17

He comes from the north as golden splendor

With God is awesome majesty. Job 37:22

GOD is wise in heart and mighty in strength. Job 9:4

God is just.

God is a just judge, and God is angry with the wicked every day. Psalm 7:11

God is forever.

Your throne, O God, is forever and ever; a scepter of righteousness is the scepter of Your kingdom. Psalm 45:6

God is King over all.

But to the Son He says: “Your throne, O God, is forever and ever; a scepter of righteousness is the scepter of Your kingdom. Hebrews 1:8

For God is the King of all the earth;

Sing praises with understanding. Psalm 47:7

God is our refuge and ever-present help.

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Psalm 46:1

God in Jesus is our Salvation

In God is my salvation and my glory; the rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God. Trust in Him at all times, you people; pour out your heart before Him; Psalm 62:7-8

God is a refuge for us. Our God is the God of salvation; and to GOD the Lord belong escapes from death. Psalm 68:20

God’s Righteousness is above all.

Also Your righteousness, O God, is very high, You who have done great things; O God, who is like You? Psalm 71:19

God is Worthy of our fear and reverence.

God is greatly to be feared in the assembly of the saints, and to be held in reverence by all those around Him. Psalm 89:7

God is Gracious.

Gracious is the LORD, and righteous; yes, our God is merciful. Psalm 116:5

God is Ruler over all.

God is the LORD, and He has given us light; Psalm 118:27

God is the Eternal Provider of the food of life.

For the bread of God is He who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.” John 6:33

God is glorified in Jesus.

So, when he had gone out, Jesus said, “Now the Son of Man is glorified, and God is glorified in Him. John 13:31

God reveals His righteousness through faith.

For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, “The just shall live by faith.” Romans 1:17

God is Faithful.

God is faithful, by whom you were called into the fellowship of His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. 1 Corinthians 1:9

For our God is a consuming fire. Hebrews 12:29

God is greater than the condemnation of men even our own hearts.

For if our heart condemns us, God is greater than our heart, and knows all things. 1 John 3:20

God is Love

He who does not love does not know God, for God is love. 1John 4:8

And we have known and believed the love that God has for us. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him. 1 John 4:16

An exhortation to pray for our nation—

Remember our confession of faith over the nation. Let us fill the air with light and life by the Word of God.

"Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD, The people He has chosen as His own inheritance." Psalm 33:12
