Your Enemies Will Flee From You
“The LORD will cause your enemies who rise against you to be defeated before your face; they shall come out against you one way and flee before you seven ways.” Deuteronomy 28:7
The enemies of God’s people are the enemies of God. His covenant promise to His people is that He will cause their enemies to be defeated, and not just defeated, but defeated in a most dramatic way. They will flee from them seven ways. Which is a way of saying, they will be scattered and sent packing in every direction.
Now it is important to remember that our enemies are not other people. We do not wrestle with flesh and blood. When we are offended or assaulted in any way by another human being, they are not the ultimate source of the offense or assault.
Everyone is responsible for their actions undertaken by their own volitional choices. I believe if men knew the demonic spirits that inspire their evil actions they would choose life instead of death if for no other reason than self preservation. But ultimately even those who commit offenses are under the influence of a destructive force and that is our enemy. That is the one with whom we are at war.
In that fight we will win every time with the weapons of our warfare. (See Ephesians 6: 10-18)
“Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in highplaces. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints…” Ephesians 6:10-18
More battles are won on our knees and by our spoken words than any by human might and power alone. Love is the driving force that empowers us to forgive and forgiving frees us for joyful fellowship with God our Father and our Lord Jesus Christ by the power of the Holy Spirit working in us. Forgiveness and love free us to peacefully and fulfillingly fellowship with our brothers and sisters in the body of Christ and to approach the world with the declaration of true Gospel as Jesus’ ambassadors of reconciliation and peace. When love is our motivation no enemy can defeat us, and all of them will be scattered to the four winds when God steps on the scene. And that is exactly what He has promised to do for us.
