Abounding Grace

“Moreover the law entered, that the offence might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound…” Romans 5:20

With all the noise of “news” media commentary eclipsing any objective reporting of events and the overwhelming number of reports that amount to little more than “he said, she said” gossip and false witness, it is little wonder that so many people are woefully ignorant of truth that really matters. As a result millions of people are stirred up with fear, anxiety stresses and conflicts with even less knowledge of how to handle them and live healthy productive joy-filled lives despite the din of madness around them.

But that is precisely the message of the gospel of Jesus Christ. We don’t have to live tossed about by society’s fears and frustrations or quake in the face of daily reports of impending doom. We don’t have to live or die by the whims of political, social or academic, so called, experts telling us what we should think, who we should support of vilify, love or hate, what we should eat, wear, say or not say to fit their broken sin-inspire hedonism devoid of all semblance of true life and wellbeing for anyone.

The message of the Gospel is simple. God so loved every Tom, Dick and Harry, Nancy, Sarah and Susie, Donald, Chuck, Heather, Bill, Adam, Eve, Paul, Elizabeth, Luke, Cindy, John, Jane, Matthew, Alice, Maria and Mark, the world, that He gave His only begotten Son Jesus Christ, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. For God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might (could, would, should) be saved and that salvation came through Him alone and it is being held in tact by His grace; God’s grace. And that grace is being offered to all without regard for the measure of their sin, because all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. But now we have all been freely justified by His grace.

The only thing for “whosoever” to do is believe Him, and receive salvation by faith. All faith is wrapped up in one simple act, believing that GOD IS and that He loves us, that Jesus did what He did, and that He will do what He promised. That’s it. That is the sure foundation of our faith. All else proceeds from that fundamental truth.

With that comes a never ending storehouse of goodness from God our Father, and life and that more abundantly from Jesus our Lord.

The world apart from the truth of God’s word only knows sin death and dying so that is what it proclaims to itself daily. But we who are born again by faith in God’s Word know that life is given to us to be blessed and to bless others in an ever increasing ever abounding flow of God’s immeasurable, uncontainable love and grace.

So take hold of that truth daily that we are loved, we are forgiven and we are being filled daily with the Holy Spirit and by His indwelling presence we are lead to all truth.

Therefore, let the Word of God dwell in you richly.

“Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.” Colossians 3:16 NKJV
