"O LORD, our Lord, How excellent is Your name in all the earth, who have set Your glory above the heavens! Out of the mouth of babes and nursing infants You have ordained strength, because of Your enemies, that You may silence the enemy and the avenger." Psalm 8:1-2
Worshipping God on demand can initially seem awkward or intimidating. What do say to God? How do you worship God? He's God, you just don't show up in the throne room of Heaven surrounded by angels and archangel and lightning and thundering and voices all shouting praises to Him, in the midst of a bedazzling array of Gold and precious stones all reflecting the otherwise blinding light coming from the midst of the throne and the sound of many waters rushing like a river from beneath the throne out into the utter most regions of eternity.
What do you say in the midst of all that? Well, if your knees have buckled underneath you, and your face is touching the ground because of the indescribable magnificence and grandeur of all that is around you, you might look up with your hands raised high above you in absolute surrender and Holy awe of the One before You, and shout "Hallelujah, All Glory to You, Lord God Almighty!!!" Then you might begin to express your gratitude for still being alive, to be able speak at all. From that posture you might begin to say,
O Lord, our Lord How excellent is You name in all the earth!!! Your glory is above the heavens! In the weakest and most vulnerable of all Your creatures, a baby, You have perfected praise! In the weakness of a baby, You have ordained strength because of those who deny You and hate You and seek to establish themselves above You. In the praise of nursing infants, You have silenced Your enemies and the avenger, the one who is their god.
They are all confounded in their foolish opposition to You. But Your name is Holy and Mighty, High, and lifted up above all names. At that name, the name of Jesus, every knee shall bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father.
Your name is excellent, and though some would deny it and others demean it and disrespect it, it still stands exalted above all the earth, above all the Heavens, above all created things in this world and that which is to come. It is the name that confounds the wise and uplifts the meek. It is the name that blesses the poor and gives strength to the weak, the name that recovers sight to the blind, opens prison doors to those who are bound. It is the comfort to the mourner and rest for the weary. That name is the name that dispels the darkness and shines light in the heart of every believer in the One Who was, and Who is, and Who Is to come. That name is a strong tower that the righteous run into and are safe. It is the name that makes rivers in the desert, and brings water from the rocks. That name is light in the darkness and peace in the midst of the storm. That name is a pilar of cloud by day and a pilar of fire by night. That name is living companion in the fiery furnace that makes the flames flee from the children of God, and a friend with Daniel in the lions den that puts the lions to sleep. That name is healing for the sick, sight to the blind, salvation to the lost and the way where there seems to be no way, That name is assurance when there is no hope. That name is an abundant supply when the table is bear and the storehouse is empty. That name is life from death. That name is joy in the midst of sorrow, That name is truth when all around is the noise of lies. That name is the first and the last the beginning and the end, the Alpha and the Omega, the Creator and the Recreator. That name is the fulness of the Godhead in the form of A Man, and that Name is that Man, Jesus Christ, Fully God, and Fully Man, Fully Righteous and Fully Just, Fully Judge and Fully Justifier. That name is Holy And True, Fully Merciful and Fully Gracious. That name is Love. That Name is Life, That name is steadfast, true, unchanging forever, the same yesterday, today and forever.
How excellent is that name? Excellent is that Name!!!!
